Joran escaped the catacombs with the help of a mysterious voice that spoke to him in his mind after he witnessed a mural depicting humans conversing with some kind of mythical creature.
Joran met The Weaver and arranged to procure a disguise from him so that Joran could safely return to the library and research the mythical creatures before continuing with his plan to flee Eldoria and his familial responsibilities.
When he met The Weaver a second time to pick up the disguise, a changeling caused a disturbance in the nearby market and The Weaver donned the disguise themself and bolted.
Joran decides to leave well enough alone and make good on his plans to escape his family obligations and make a name for himself as an adventurer and scholar.
Joran makes a meagre camp for the night and goes to sleep. His dreams, influenced by the Whispering Scroll that he now unwittingly possesses. He dreams of a shadowy figure constraining him with ethereal chains.
The next day Joran makes it to Aleth, a small town outside Eldoria. He is attacked by brigands as he approaches the market square, but he quickly dispatches them with his magic.
