Backstory
Kockwavers, a noble and ancient bloodline of humans devout in their faith to the Dragon God Bahamut. Throughout the ages, select Kockwaver forebearers were chosen to be Ux Bahamuti: special humans chosen by Bahamut who were turned into dragonborn through the sacred Rite of Rebirth.
Kockwavers chosen this way fulfilled mighty quests in the name of their god. They would eventually return to Kockwaver Keep as Maesters to train the next few generations. A new Ux Bahamuti was selected and could go out and quest, before coming back to replace the old Maester before his death. For even though they were born human, once transformed the Ux Bahamuti lived to be very old.
Verity Kockwaver grew up in Kockwaver keep, trained as family tradition dictates, in the ways of the paladin by human maesters. From a young age he was taught mastery over all manner of weapons, mounted combat and use of the shield. Extensive studies in languages, theology and negotiation tactics rounded out his physical training. When he was not busy improving his self he reverently served the temple clerics in service to his God Bahamut.
The Keep has not known an Ux Bahamuti in ages. In fact, they are but myth now. However, since he first heard the story as a child, Verity has always held faith that these fables were real. Now, his preparatory training complete, Verity embarks on a journey to find worthy quests that will help bring peace and justice to these wild lands. Perhaps... in a small part of his consciousness, Verity wishes Bahamut take notice of him through these actions select him for the holy Rite of Rebirth.
Early on his journey, Verity crosses paths with another human named Tommy. Both responding to a cry for help, they fought well together and then fast become friends. By simple misunderstanding, Verity believes Tommy has signed up to be his squire!
